William Augustus Spencer was traveling with his wife, Marie Eugenie Spencer, and they boarded the Titanic at Cherbourg, France on Wednesday, 10th April, 1912, traveling to New York City, New York.

Also traveling with them was Eugenie Elise Lurette, who was the maid to Marie Eugenie Spencer.

William Augustus Spencer was lost in the sinking of the Titanic, and his body was not recovered, however, Marie Eugenie Spencer and Eugenie Elise Lurette both managed to board lifeboat No. 6, and survived the sinking.

There is a memorial to the memory of William Augustus Spencer in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York, U.S.A.
