In 2012, the year of the 100th anniversary of the sinking of Titanic, the existing Titanic Memorial, Belfast became the centerpiece of an all new Titanic memorial garden, and was opened on 15th April, 2012, by the then Lord Mayor of Belfast, Niall Ó Donnghaile.

It bears the folowing inscription across the foot of the plinths; "In Memory of those who died on the 15th April, 1912.'

The memorial's construction includes five bronze plinths, which bears the names of all of the victims, a world first, and the victims are listed alphabetically, rather than by class.
