Thomas Leonard Theobald was traveling with Frank John Goldsmith, Emily Alice Goldsmith, Frank John William Goldsmith, Nathan Goldsmith, and Alfred George John Rush, and they all boarded Titanic at Southampton, on Wednesday, 10th April, 1912, bound for Detroit, Michigan.

Frank John Goldsmith, Thomas Leonard Theobald and Alfred George John Rush were all lost in the sinking, however, Emily Alice Goldsmith, Frank John William Goldsmith and Nathan Goldsmith all managed to board lifeboat collapsible C, and survived.
