Mini Biography

Jaako Arnold Panula was traveling with his mother, Maija Emelia Abraham Panula, and his four brothers, Ernesti Arvid Panula, Eino Viljam Panula, Juha Niilo Panula and Urho Abraham Panula, together with a family friend, Susanna Juhantytär Riihivuori.

They all boarded the Titanic at Southampton, England, on Wednesday, 10th April, 1912, and were bound for Coal Center, Pennsylvania.

Eino Viljam Panula, Ernesti Arvid Panula, Jaako Arnold Panula, Juha Niilo Panula, Maija Emelia Abraham Panula, Urho Abraham Panula and Susanna Juhantytär Riihivuori were all lost in the sinking of the Titanic, and none of their bodies were recovered and identified.

In 2002, a T.V. program called Secrets Of The Dead, wanted to prove through D.N.A. testing, who the child in the grave of the unknown child really was, and announced that the body was that of Eino Viljam Panula, using a descendant of his mother, Maija Emelia Abraham Panula, to prove the match.

However, in 2007, a team from Lakehead University, Ontario, Canada managed to prove, again using D.N.A., that Sidney Leslie Goodwin was actually the body in the grave of unknown child. A mistake had been made in 2002.
