Local families on board for Titanic musical

Postby Andrew Clarkson » Wed Nov 04, 2009 9:14 pm

When Stage 62's "Titanic: The Musical" sets sail next month, several local families will be on board. The musical will be held Nov. 6-8, 13-15 and 20-21 at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall.

The musical that swept the 1997 Tony awards with its moving story and powerful score faithfully tells the tale through the eyes of crew and passengers alike: Barrett, the stoker whose fiancée awaits his return; immigrants who yearn for a better life in America; Isidor Straus (owner of Macy's) and his wife Ida who refuses to leave his side; and Titanic's architect Thomas Andrews, who despairs at his ship's flaws as she begins her inevitable descent.

Real life families making the voyage are:

Meagan and Steve Bruno of Carnegie (who played Sound Of Music's Maria VonTrapp in 2005 and Company's Bobby in 2006 respectively) welcome daughter, Madison, 5, to the stage. • Chris Martin of Mt. Lebanon (Seymour in this summer's Little Shop of Horrors) is joined by daughter Sydney, 5, making her STAGE 62 debut, along with his mother-in-law, Kathy Habovick of Scott. • Ed Gergerich of Brighton Heights (playing Benjamin Guggenheim) is once again joined by daughters Anna, 17, playing the part of Kate Murphey) and Maura, 14.

Sandy Boggs of Scott (playing the part of Charlotte Cardoza) joins daughter Adrienne Elion, 11, on board. • Sarah Barbisch of Bridgeville (Nancy in 2008's Oliver) is joined by her mom, Debbie Macerelli, and brother Jared (playing the part of Jim Farrell).

The cast includes 62 people from the ages of 5 to 82.

Madison Bruno and Sydney Martin, both age 5, are making their stage debuts while Wanda Clay, 82, is performing in her 9th production at STAGE 62.

Shows are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. For ticket prices, call 412-429-6262 or visit www.stage62.org/titanic/
