Hospitality jobs in North-Ireland are set to soar with plans to build a Titanic themed hotel in Belfast.
An application to build a five-star, 90-bedroom hotel at the same place the Titanic ship liner was built so many years ago, has recently been lodged.
If the development is approved the hotel will boast with a spa, gym and enormous swimming pool.
The entire shipyard area is currently known as the Titanic Quarter and this area will be redeveloped to honour the memory of those who lost their live on the ship’s maiden voyage in 1912.
According to the Belfast Telegraph, a next phase of the Titanic Quarter has received planning permission.
This phase will include shops, offices, 380 flats, eateries and medical facilities.
Andy Young from Turley Associates who has received approval of their designs told the newspaper: “The approval of these two planning applications, along with the recently approved Titanic Signature Project building, will pave the way for construction to begin on this famous and historic area.”
The redevelopment of the Titanic Quarter will involve so much more than just the above mentioned.
Some of the developments include up to 7500 apartments but it is yet to receive permission.
The temporary jobs that will be created during the building process will be manifold and permanent jobs in tourism that will be created on completion will also be staggering.
North Ireland will benefit substantially from this tourist attraction which will add value to Belfast’s attraction and lure people from across the world.
A spokesperson for the company who will carry out the development, Titanic Quarter Ltd, told the BBC News: “Given the enormous global interest in the Titanic and the building's close association with the ship, such a hotel will add to the Northern Ireland tourist experience.”
