Titanic link Anglesey mansion converted into apartments

Postby Andrew Clarkson » Mon Mar 27, 2017 4:26 pm

A mansion built for the family behind the Titanic's White Star Line has been converted into luxury apartments overlooking the Menai Strait.

Bryn Mel Manor, near Llandegfan in Anglesey, was completed in 1899 for shipping magnate William Imrie after a 10-year building project. Imrie and Thomas Ismay built up the White Star Line which later owned the ill-fated Titanic.

The house was further extended by a number of subsequent owners and was then converted into a 39-bedroom care home before its closure in 2011.

Developer Phil Austin first saw the mansion in 2013 and completed the purchase of the property later that year.
