'Titanic' on stage in Somerset in November

Titanic," a musical by playwright Peter Stone, with Lyrics and Music by Maury Yeston, is running Friday November 4th 2016 through Sunday November 20th 2016 at Villagers Theatre in Somerset.

Performances for the public are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance on November 4th.

The sinking of the "Titanic", over 100 years ago, in the early hours of April 15, 1912, remains the quintessential disaster of the 20th century. A total 1,517 men, women and children lost their lives. That the supposedly unsinkable ship should have been lost during its maiden voyage is so incredible that, had it not actually happened, no author would have dared to contrive it.

The musical "Titanic" examines the causes, the conditions and the characters involved in this ever-fascinating drama. This is the factual story of that ship - of her officers, crew and passengers, to be sure - but she will not, as has happened so many times before, serve as merely the background against which fictional, melodramatic narratives are recounted. The central character of our "Titanic" is the Titanic herself.
