PORTLAND, Maine —One hundred-four years ago, the RMS Titanic sunk two-and-a-half miles to the bottom of the ocean floor and now you can see pieces of the ship in Portland.

A new Titanic artifact exhibition is scheduled to open Saturday at the Portland Science Center.

The exhibit is designed to take you back in time to 1912, using the artifacts recovered from the wreckage to tell the human stories of the Titanic's passengers.

"It speaks to the uncertainty of life the fragility of life," said Mark Lach, director of Titanic artifacts exhibition. "When you recover these artifacts you do feel a responsibility, and a heavy responsibility after actually being to the wreck site."
