PALMER Coolum Resort will mark the 100-year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, and owner Clive Palmer's proposed construction of his own Titanic II, with a unique culinary event next month.
The resort hopes to bring to life the romantic sights, sounds and tastes of the pre-First World War era with a titanic, gourmet and cultural feast.
And because the good ship Titanic's menu was heavily influenced by chef-extraordinaire, Auguste Escoffier, August is the perfect month to launch the food and wine event.
Authentic menus are being carefully and lovingly recreated, but the resort's executive chef, Jan van Dyk, will be hoping he doesn't have to deal with a larder as full as the Titanic's when it set sail from Southampton in April 1912.
