There have been many famous tea parties in history and literature, but this summer, the South Carolina State Museum’s Titanic Tea Party for children may just be the most fun.
In conjunction with “Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition,” this event for children ages 5 to 14 years old and their adult guests will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, and will feature crafts, party games and an array of tea party food appealing to children.
“We encourage our guests to dress up in their best party finery for a delightful afternoon,” State Museum Director of Operations Meika Samuel said. “As an added bonus, they will receive a ticket to see the Titanic exhibition that day or later at their leisure.”
As part of the festivities, girls will fashion tissue paper flowers to decorate a special party hat and boys will make a colorful bowtie to wear to the party. They will also make fans from old-fashioned printed paper, and play such games as Tea Party Bingo and Dress the Old Lady/Man.
