Not just another Titanic story

Postby Andrew Clarkson » Fri May 18, 2012 9:40 am

JAMES Cameron’s Titanic is one of Kevin Zegers’ favourite movies, so when Zegers was given the script for the series Titanic: Blood And Steel, he found himself asking “What’s new about this?” and “What’s different from the movie?”.

In a phone interview, the Canadian actor says: “I don’t think people want to see a show about the sinking of the ship. They have seen that story.”

Not many people know about the politics of building the ship, which is what the 12-episode TV series focuses on. And this is what got him interested.

“It also emphasises politics in Belfast at the time. World War 1 was about to start. There was a clash between the rich and the poor, and between Christian beliefs. All these make the show more interesting than the sinking.”

Zegers plays Mark Muir, a young metallurgist hired by American financier JP Morgan (Chris Noth) to oversee the building of Titanic, the biggest ship of all time.

I used that term ken, because I am not allowed to use the other term ;) It may offend others on the forum. Yes 'shiver me timbers' came from my mothers era.
