Rare and never-seen-before Titanic memorabilia will go on display to lift the lid on one of the most tragic disasters of the 20th century.

The National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, Cornwall, is holding the exhibition 'Titanic Stories' until January 7 next year to examine tales of survivors, victims and descendants of the catastrophe.

The iconic ship momentously sank on April 15, 1912, after hitting an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean during its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City.

Some 2,224 passengers and crew were on board at the time - and more than 1,500 people lost their lives.

From a life jacket worn by a waiter on a rescue ship to the dress Kate Winslet wore in the 1997 film, these are some of the fascinating items to be showcased...

I am going on holiday for a week in Cornwall and this exhibition is definitely on my to do list.
