Branson, Missouri Titanic museum

Don't tell me I posted this in the wrong forum, I didn't exactly know where to put it and this place seemed the closest

I went to this place back in June 2008. It's a giant museum made to look like the front half of the Titanic, with a big iceberg on the starboard side and a pool of water at the front. Below I have a screenshot of the museum I took in Google Earth:

Image

Before you can go in, you go through the big awning you see on the starboard side. While entering, they give you a little handheld sound player and a boarding pass made to look like one of a Titanic passenger, which gave information about the passenger it lists and their fate onboard the Titanic. Once you enter, you go through the museum seeing various exhibits and replicas of Titanic things such as passenger rooms (they had replicas of the forward Grand Staircase, 3rd class passenger room, 1st class passenger room, bridge, and promenade). The sound player you bring inside is for, when you see a number on an exhibit, you push the button with that number on the sound player and you can hear facts about that exhibit and its part in the Titanic. Towards the end, they have a gift shop where you can buy books, modelling kits, desktop accessories and other Titanic-related products. I even got this out of the gift shop (I know this pic is blurry  ):

Hello Captain ACS. Would love to go to this exibition but until I win the lottery the nearest I will get to it is by looking at the ship through the live cam which is situated near the bow of Titanic. I did see a picture of the grand staircase on Bransons own website. It certainly looked impressive but why did they have to put the brass? hand rail on it. I always thought it some thing to do with Health and Safety but it looks so wrong. Ken.

The brass hand rails on the Grand Staircase of Titanic Branson (and at Pigeon Forge, as well) are there solely because of building code regulations. I agree that they detract from the overall impression, but the staircase couldn't be used by visitors unless they had been installed.

Pat -

Yeah, pretty much in the middle of American. Southern portion of the state of Missiouri in the US.

I was lucky enough to go there in June. Definitely one of the better Titanic Museums I've been to. Much of the artifacts are pre-discovery - in other words, very little from the bottom of the sea and the wreck site.

Some of the exhibits I especially liked - a half lifeboat that you can get into, to see how bit they were. A sloping deck, to get a feel of what a 12 degree - and a 30 degree - slope really feels like, if you were on the ship in the last stages. Of course, lots of photos and memrobilia too.

Well worth the trip.

I went there back in my trip to northwest Arkansas in 2008 to see my aunt. We always go to Branson when we go up there, but in 2008 it was the only time I went to the museum. They live about 20 miles from Branson in Eureka Springs.

Hello CaptainACS. I just went to Eureka springs. Not for real but with Google street view. Main street looks like it hasn't changed since the days of the cowboys. Ken.

You would be sorely disappointed. The place has NOTHING to do with cowboys and cowgirls; and this isn't the forum for me to delve into the types of creatures that actually inhabit the place. Visit, but don't live there . . .
