Claytown 1/1136 Titanic Model

Postby Titanic_Malaysia » Sat Apr 07, 2012 4:34 pm

Hey guys, I'm new here and would like to share pix of my pride-and-joy, the 1/136 scale Titanic made by Claytown... I bought this model a few years back, from a HK-based seller in eBay, after looking around for one that does not require assembly... The ship was kept in the display area all this while and when the 100th anniversary of its sinking arrived, I thought of taking the Titanic out and shoot some photos (also to test the other features of this Panasonic Lumix LX5 cam!)...

Too bad the mast located at the bow of the ship has broken, otherwise the Titanic is in pretty much pristine condition! :D

And for the fun of it, here are two edited shots of the Titanic, using this excellent software called PhotoEffectsLite! :D

Nice job. The second lot of images look like the Titanic is sailing at night time. Looks really good.

Hey mate, thanks for the comments there! :)

Well, I took that close-up shot of the bow, to get the "Titanic" wordings as well as imagine the time when Leo and Kate did their famous kissing scene in the movie... Looks like the cam did its job well, for sure! :D

Hello Titanic_Malaysia. Nice pictures. Maybe re-do the bow scene but with two very small figures re-enacting the kissing scene. Are you sure you got the scale correct. At a scale of 1:136 that would make your Titanic model about 3 metres in length. I do like the pictures where Titanic looks as though she is lit up at night. Ken.

I just noticed the scale at the title says 1:1136.

Thanks for your nice compliments, Ken... Well, that's indeed a good idea but I need to see how to actually place those figures on the bow, maybe do a digital add-on, who knows? :D

Honoring the Titanic on YouTube

Postby Titanic_Malaysia » Fri Apr 13, 2012 6:29 pm

Since the 100th anniversary of Titanic's sinking is coming up, I decided to do something interesting and compile all of the shots taken of my prized model into a slideshow. It has also been uploaded into YouTube and can be viewed via this link:

Check it out, everyone!

And here is one photo which has been greatly edited, showing the Titanic as a modernized vessel, with ten covered lifeboats on this side, as well as radomes, satellite system, weather monitoring system, and a proper communications mast! :D

Hi guys, this is one nice shot of Titanic departing from Southampton, in black & white.

As an attempt to recreate the above image, here is one edited shot of that already familiar model ship, but taken using my iPod touch instead, for that slightly dated-looking quality. The Titanic was actually sitting high up on the top of the dressing table, when this picture was taken! :D

Hello Titanic_Mayalasia. I was going to ask was that a picture of your model on your avatar and now I see that it was. It is looking very good and you got just close enough to give it the correct perspective. But you spoiled it a bit by telling us that it was sitting on the dressing table. Where is that nice blue carpet? Ken.

Hey Ken, thanks for your compliment! :D

Well, the blue carpet is actually on the floor but taken away for a scrub... It's a bit hard to get that shot when on the carpet though, as the angle will always be a bit on the high side... That's why while the Titanic is on the dressing table, this means I can "bend down" the camera to get that shot! :)

Carpet? I thought it was a towel, for one should always know where your towel is

Hey Kaz, I do have a towel with almost the same color but some earlier shots were taken on the carpet as well, haha! :D
