Titanic Lifebelt Replica

Postby joshua » Sat Mar 17, 2012 12:17 am

I'd like to create a replica Titanic lifebelt, but I can't find exact dimensions. I know it's 12" by 23" on one side but I need more like the dimensions of each block of cork, the average width and the straps. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Joshua. In case you dont get to find out the exact measurments of a life jacket I plan to visit a few exibitions in the next month. If I see a life jacket on display I will see if they will let me take some measurements. They probably wont but it is worth a try. Ken.

Thank you Ken for your kind offer, but I found most of the dimensions on the internet after some searching. The only dimensions I couldn't find were the width of each flap and the circumference of the hole the head goes through.

Hi,

ask T-T member IMTITANIC aka Marko. I recall he was working with liferings. I would think they were made of hemp or linen.

Best,
Eric

Hello Joshua. Heres a good picture of a lifebelt which may help you work out sizes. Ken.
