Justin:

The information I have is mostly "modern", mid-19th century and 20th century. The surname I have been able to trace back the farthest in James Moody's family tree is "Lammin". And that was thanks to an old book. Getting beyond the parents of Moody's grandfather is where I'm stuck.

Hello. The house where James Moody was born now has a blue plaque. This is good to hear. Ken.

Hello Aly. I did not visit James Moodys house. The news of the blue plaque is just one of the many very interesting stories in the latest issue of the "Atlantic Daily Bulletin" which is the journal of the British Titanic Society. Ken.

I believe this took place on the 100th anniversary, but I could be mistaken. Yes it is good to hear.

Amazing, how babies were born inside their house and it was seen as normal . Today, if one baby is born outside of hospital, it makes the evening news.

Hello Aly. I am sure here in England a mother has a choice of where her baby is to be born. Obviously most mothers choose the hospital but some such as the wife of one of the chemistry teachers at the school where I work has had two home births. While on the subject of teachers. One of the teachers in the nursery has the surname "Moody". I must ask her if she knows any thing about her family history. Ken.

Fascinating! Would you be kind enough to let us know if this person is related, Ken? I know the name is fairly common, but still there's always that small chance.

That would be great ken. Moody may lie on her husband side if she were to be Mrs Moody (married) ?

Hello Aly. As it is half term this week there are no teachers in school. I will ask her if she knows of any family history. I think that if there were any connection with James Moody she would have already told me as just about everyone in the school knows what I am into. But I will ask next week. Ken.

That would be great Ken. She is Married? that would mean 'Moody' was her husband's last name not her own original last name. Not married would mean she grew up as a Moody.

Hello. I spoke to the teacher who has the name of Moody. She is Moody by marriage. She did know that there was an officer on Titanic with the same name as she had but neither her or her husband had done anything to find out if there were any connection. I work in the South of England where as James Moody lived in the North of England so having a few hundred miles between South and North made me think that it was a totally different family line of Moodys but it turns out this teacher comes from Durham which is about 60 miles from where James Moody came from. A few things she told me of her ancestors were they were "well off" meaning they had plenty of money. There is a church that has a stained glass window to do with the family. Her great grand father was gassed in the great war. And her great great uncle worked with George Stephenson builder of the Rocket. Ken.

Thanks Ken.

She might ask him to do some research' as for his last name Moody is his bloodline, not hers.
