To be quite honest, I purchased my VIP tickets for the event back in 2008 because I love Titanic that much and I was looking forward to commemorating her. Then I subsequently forgot all about those tickets and I wasn't planning on going because I hadn't had any money come in from my art in awhile and I was under the impression that I would not be able to purchase tickets. Then the Thursday before the event, they called me up and said "Hi Kristen! We have some tickets here for you that you purchased four years ago and we're looking forward to seeing you!" It was like fate had stepped in and I was honored to be a part of such a beautiful ceremony.

Hi Kristen, that was one really interesting experience, being able to attend a memorial event in Missouri... Did you manage to take any photos during the proceedings? :)

I do have photos! There was no personal photography allowed inside the museum, but I found photos on the internet, so they're posted below with descriptions along with photos from the memorial concert. There will be a lot, so forgive me for the long post!

Image
This is Titanic Branson's lobby, where you can see a mural of Titanic stood on her end to show how she rivaled the tallest buildings in the world, including the St. Louis Arch, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Statue of Liberty, and the Woolworth Building. Overhead hangs a replica of the smallest of Titanic's three propellers.

Image
Past the lobby, you will find this model of Titanic, which is 18 feet long and took 2 years to complete.

Image
These two adorable dogs are the next attraction at the museum and they serve to represent the 10 dogs who were on board Titanic. The dogs' names are Molly and Carter and they were named after the Carter family, who was traveling with a dog of the same breed, and of course Molly Brown.

Image
In the next room, past the models of Titanic's decks and engines, children can help to shovel coal into one of her boilers. It lights up and makes burning noises when they do so and they receive a special badge that says they helped as part of the "crew."

Image
This room is called the Father Browne gallery. Father Browne was a monk who was allowed to photograph both the Olympic and the Titanic before she set sail. His photos were lost for years until another monk later found his album in a monastery and it was immediately placed into a bank vault, and thanks to them, we now have photos of the great ships and life in 1912.

Image
This is a replica of a third class cabin.

Image
This is a full scale replica of Titanic's grand staircase and it is the next attraction that you will see.

Image
This is a full scale replica of a first class stateroom. I am told by RMS Titanic Inc's Twitter page that the cost of one of these rooms in today's currency would be $103,000.

Image
This room is decorated like the first class dining area would have been, but instead of tables and chairs, it has been converted into an artifact gallery.

Image
This is a replica of the marconi room.

Image
This is the area of the museum built to look like the captain's bridge, and outside the window is a room that is made to feel like you are on the boat deck-- complete with the freezing air temperature. There is a railing in the boat deck room and if you look over it, you can see the iceberg off in the distance.

Image
This is the interactive gallery where one can place their hands in water that is the same temperature as the ocean was that night, board a lifeboat to see how many people could have really fit aboard the one that was lowered with only a few aboard, and as shown here, climb the decks as they would have sloped at different times during the sinking.

Image
This is called the memorial wall. The names of all 2,208 people who were aboard Titanic are etched into the glass, forever to be remembered. The life jacket that is shown in the photo shows the human cost of the tragedy, as it still has blood on it from some unknown injury that took place during the sinking.

Image
The survivor's wall of stories will tell you all about what the surviving passengers went on to do with their lives after the disaster. Some even have photos.

Image
The discovery room shows how Dr. Robert Ballard discovered Titanic and includes many photos and video from the wreck.

Image
This is a tribute to the pastors, priests, and reverends who were on board Titanic, all of whom perished while trying to bring comfort and peace to those around them.

Image
This is a photo I took of the exterior of the museum, which is built to look like Titanic herself. It it half scale to her original size and you enter underneath the iceberg.

Image
This is a panoramic shot of the centennial memorial concert that I found online as well. The man in the front is David Parker, who played Captain Smith.

Image
This is a photo that I found of Captain Smith with the crew and maids and the 40 flags which represented the nations that Titanic's passengers came from. They did a great job at paying tribute to everyone aboard.

Image
At the finale of the concert, 200 white doves were released.

Image
As the doves were released, an eternal flame was lit for Titanic's lost souls. This is a photo I took of the flame after the ceremony. It truly was a beautiful memorial and I am honored to have been a part of it.

Regards,
Kristen

Aly Jones,Once again thankyou for replying to my posts,I now reflect on the 15th of April and what and how I celebrated it by accident in company of friends. The necklace from the film Titanic was given to me by a person in Bangor who was selling them, these were reproduction necklaces, the real necklace went of to be sold apparently for 2 1/2 million dollars in the United States, the copy I had in a presentation box went for £40-00,it was nice of the man to give me the Necklace after I told him the story, there were also copies other than these. But some with real gems, and this story could go on for a long time. But it seems that as I tell this story there is another one that I can see,so in the light of this I will still send this post, and then look at the one that seems to be sent maybe regarding my present post. Pat, how unfortunate that you didn't get to go on the Balmoral. I hope they do apologize because that is entirely wrong. You're welcome for the pictures! It's my pleasure to share them!

Hey Pat,

I do try and answer everyone that responds to me unless 'sometimes' I do get stuck In what to say next. I wont post anything until I have figured out what to say in response. And just sometimes I can't figure out what to say at all so I don't post a response but I will never deliberately ignore anyone ;)
CAN we see a picture? The necklace that was used in James Cameron film? That would be worth money years to come. 1) Part of a Titanic movie 2) Part of the biggest block Buster movie of all time.

Hey SA,

Just Wow, Amaaaaaazing pictures. That's the real coloured coated colours board the Titanic's 1st class and 3rd class? I always Imagine how the Titanic rooms looked In colour. Even 3rd class looked expensive!!! Thanks for sharing.

I didn't ask, but I believe everything is as it was in Titanic's day. Perhaps other staterooms had different color schemes, but I'm pretty sure that those were the real colors. Don't hold me to it, though!

Kristen, those are truly amazing pictures and the museum itself looks great as well, it's like visiting an exhibition in the ship itself! :)

Looks like I've missed my best chance to view the real Titanic artifacts when I declined to visit the Exhibition in Marina Bay Sands when I went to Singapore TWICE recently, in November last year and just last month... Admittedly, although the ticket price was rather expensive, now that I think about it, the experience that comes with it would have been priceless (considering the ship came back to my life a week before the centenary)! :(

If you ever get a chance to come to the States, you should totally go to either Branson or to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. There is a second Titanic museum like the one I just posted at Pigeon Forge! :D

Shameless Angels, Thankyou for your reply and support I will be at a infants school in Belfast next week to talk to the 3 classes,in the School,I have an invitation to speak to the Pupils and tell them my version of the people who were on the Titanic, through the Titanic Titanic. Com thanks to everyone who keeps this site running and those who correspond, especially Shameless Angels a good title for the Angels who are sometimes depicted in relation to bygone pictures to do with the death of so many people. As for an apology from Bristol and the Travel company I do not think they will send me an apology,as they do not wish to correspond, and also to get in touch with Fred Olson the multi million shipping magnet that seems very unlikely, however if eventually they see fit to even make a remark it would be good but I won,t hold my breath. The most improtant thing is that you got back to me and your lovely pictures whic i will show to the pupils if i can.Pat

Aly Jones,I am sorry I do not have the expertise to put pictures on web sites, but maybe at the moment the only way for me is the old fashioned postal service, which would mean me taking a picture and sending it on,but then that is up to you then if you want it this way,I am lucky to actually work the Computer let alone do anything else. You certainly may! I do not mind at all! I think it would help them to see what Titanic really looked like on the inside. :)
