TITANIC DISASTER PARTY. 100 Years! All day long on April 14-15 2012 we remembered the lost, celebrated the saved. talked of the heroes and the cowards. awed in wonder how these men molded steel like art work into the most beautiful vessel of all time all those years ago. The Titanic did not fail mankind. It was mankind that failed the TITANIC.

Sigvard,Your expressions are good but we must not be overwhelmed by things like Ships which were designed by man and were not perfect,as in the case of Titanic, unfortunately a wealth of information by the media and the WSL have exaggerated the prowess and other things of this ship, some people have been deluded. However I respect your point of view, the deaths of so many people have really spoiled a good story which has become romanticised,I am striving to tell the truth about this ship through my Society, the Shannon Ulster Titanic Society, based here in Co Down which is a place where the Story began and ended in failure in the North Atlantic. I understand your views, to me the Titanic was a work of art. something that is lost today and could not be remade no matter how hard humanity tried. and not just the ship herself but the techniques in witch she and her sister ships were built. Its as if the Titanic had a soul of her own. And touched many people through out time, Including the pride of the men that worked so long and so hard to build her. I am not someone who saw the movie and fell in love with the story, Ive been fascinated with this since I was in second grade. an age were most kids would not care as my class mate didn't. and before the Titanic was popular. all the kings horses and all the kings men could not put humpty together again. Sigvard1912.I realise that you are interested in the Titanic story, and that you have just not become interested just because of a film.In my case I was not really interested in the Titanic story even though my Grandmother used to tell me stories about the Titanic when I was a boy that her husband had died in the Disaster in 1912.Going to Canada on an Immigrant Ship myself at the age of 18years old,I was actually travelling in the footsteps of my Grandfather Andrew John Shannon, who actually was Born in Cobh Co Cork. This was in 1957 that I went to Canada. In 1960 I stopped off in Shannon Airport on the way to the middle east it was strange, that this happened, but to try and shorten the story,I eventually went to live in N.Ireland with my wife and children, and saw the two Cranes Sampson and Goliath. This was in 1992,and decided to form the first Titanic Society in N.Ireland. The Shannon Ulster Titanic Society. Pat

HI Pat, That Is ironic how you followed your grandfathers footsteps. But, you had a safe trip while your grandfather had died.

something that is lost today and could not be remade no matter how hard humanity tried.

I'm pretty sure we can do a exact replica but the law won't prohibited It.

Aly Jones,It is strange that you should say that but money is more important to the law to some people, however I look forward to a replica by the Australians.

HI pat.

I was referring about a 100% replica of the Titanic from keel to bridge. They can easily build one but the law will not prohibited. I'm thinking we will end up with a Titanic shell with a completely modern ship Inside.

Hey Aly, why not? While the Titanic II can look exactly like what the original did in 1912, it does not have to contain the same interiors as well, am I correct? The ship has to be built according to present-day standards + requirements anyway, including ensuite toilets, buffet and fine dining restaurants, as well as a larger pool for people to relax in, but can still look like its century-old predecessor... :)

Titanic-Malaysia.The most important thing about the new Titanic is what? This anniversay at the moment is about the old Titanic.Yes the new Titanic will hopefully follow and be built in China, after all I think the Chinese would jump at the chance to do this, and furthermore I would think it would be a chance for the Chinese government to shine.I would like to commemerate this year by being invited over to China to see the keel of the Titanic keel being laid. Pat (ps But hope they would pay my fare over)

My great grand mother Evelyn Swade came over to America in 1912 from sweden. from what I understand she had to follow the normal traffic circle. And missed the Titanic Disaster.

That is my point the new Titanic will not be steam powered. the hull under the water line at the bow will be torpedo shaped like all ships are now. the hull will be welded together not riveted. and many thing will be different. but I guess they have to be. no more launching life boats from a 11 story high boat deck. The titanic can never be remade the way she was. Its like looking at a new Dodge Charger compared to my 1969 Dodge Charger. they could never remake it and sell it. not a vary good example I know. we now live in a disposable world. However I look forward to seeing the Titanic II and something so beautiful as Titanic should be remade. not in defiance but remembrance. I think Thomas Andrews would have liked that. Sigvard

There would be very many problems with a Titanic II. First of all, how would you keep all these people from the dangerous tip of the bow imitating Jack and Rose? Also how would you keep people from taking the replicas of things like silverware or China? Also, I don't think Steerage passengers would enjoy having two bathtubs.
