Well done Andrew i am surprised it went on so long regards Salty cranes were mentioned and i thought maybe i hadn't made my question clear enough.and as with the call sign, question, I thought a few hints would help out which resulted in the answer in both questions. NO, more hints in future, okies. regards Salty.Andrew Clarkson wrote:So I get to ask the question!? Okay, but remember, this thread originally started life as a reverse quiz, you give the answer, and people try to guess the question!
So, here's the answer; 124

Andrew just thought about your reply how do you reach the conclusion my question should have been 124?Andrew Clarkson wrote:So I get to ask the question!? Okay, but remember, this thread originally started life as a reverse quiz, you give the answer, and people try to guess the question!

hi scotfot what on earth has that got to do with {cranes}??????????? Saltyscotfot wrote:Hi, 124 - answer - John Jacob Astor - his body was the 124th recovered by the McKay Bennett.
regards, scotfot.
I think if you re-read Andy's message, old salty, you'll see that he's providing a new answer having nothing to do with yours.old salty wrote:how do you reach the conclusion my question should have been 124?
This, too, has nothing to do with your messages, but is a response to Andy's.scotfot wrote:Hi, 124 - answer - John Jacob Astor - his body was the 124th recovered by the McKay Bennett.

No need to apologize to anyone, old salty. That the confusion in this thread is over is the point.maybe i misquoted Andrews reply,if that's the case then i am big enough to apologize.
I'll save you some money, then, since the question is of no interest to me.if you find the 13 attachment's on Titanic:s hull the drinks are on me

Each time i read this reply of Andrew:s I define it not as a new question as suggested , but rather the way i should have put my question.would like other member:s views on this if possible, regards all Salty.Andrew Clarkson wrote:So I get to ask the question!? So you were not posting a new question as mab suggested, you were suggesting my question although it was only trivia should have read 124 as in one, crane on the fore peak{anchor crane}, two, {2 cargo cranes aft of the anchor crane} and then four, 4 cargo cranes aft of the the last two cargo cranes} resulting in 124.the problem is that adds up to 7? Titanic had 9 cranes. as my question suggested. so put in your terms the answer should have been 1.2.6. and not as you suggest 1.2.4.As you say only a bit of triv no harm done. now its all clear regards Salty.Andrew Clarkson wrote:Salty,
Yes, they should be in that format, but as it's just a bit o' triv, we're not too bothered!
ken your a try er mate give you that, if you think about it if it was sea doors it would be an even number. The same port and starboard. Regards Salty.VW1956 wrote:Is the answer "doors" in the hull? As the ones where the passengers would enter and leave.

Benches ?

This you could put down to lateral thinking, The number 13 is what makes it so interesting, because as you say everything that was attached to her hull on the port side was duplicated on the starboard side? I promise you its no trick question they are all there for all to see and count.Best Regards Salty.VW1956 wrote:Hello old salty. I thought I had the answer but have just seen that I already posted it. I thought it was doors. I just counted 13 of them on the hull. I just thought. Is that 13 each side or 13 counting both sides. While I was at work I thought that it might be double windows as in the bakery but there are far more than 13 of those, Back to the drawing board. Ken.
