Titanic: Adventure Out Of Time

Postby Rose » Mon Jun 27, 2011 1:02 pm

I know this is an old game but has anyone who has it managed to finish it? I haven't as it is a race against time towards the end and I tend to panic.

If it plays on my PC though I may give it another go as I think it is quite a good game.

I remember this game and actually did finish it getting the 'good ending' but looking back it seems a missed a few things that, according to a walkthrough I've since read, would have made it a 'better ending'.

When I first got this game, I was beyond frustrated that I couldn't make it off the boat in time with all the necessary items to have the "happy" ending. :x Now, thanks to the people who have played it, and given this girl a walk through, my life got a LOT easier. The graphics in the game are very cool, and even just roaming from ship end to ship end, meeting new people, and taking a look around is beyond unreal. Really makes me wish I could go back in time myself, and board the "Greatest ship in modern history..."

Great game, great play, and although it's frustrating at times to remember everything you have to do in order for it to benefit you, and save the world...I still take one weekend a month and play this game just to see how fast I can do it. :D

Thought it's getting more and more difficult to find a computer that will run this game anymore, I pull it off the shelf every once in a while and give it a go. Personally I find the tour option just as enjoyable as playing the game itself. For me, the thrill of the game is being able to explore so many different areas of the ship, which were quite well done and as historically accurate as one could ask considering the time this game was developed.

Getting the best ending of the game can be quite a challenge, depending on choices you make before Titanic hits the fatal iceberg. Your best bet at beating the game is to have already collected everything you're going to need before Titanic meets the iceberg (and leave the valuables such as the Rubyat, the painting, and the diamonds with the purser before you meet Zeitel on top of the 4th smokestack!)

Does anyone have an extra copy of this game for sale? I don't have a credit card, so I can't order it from amazon, and I'd be willing to pay for it in full, plus shipping, if you have a copy. Email me at smurfette@conpoint.com and we can work something out. Thank you in advance.

As it would not work on newer computers (at least properly), I have not played on this for over 10 years. But I have just got an old computer back that I give to a relative years ago. I still have the game, and this was the pc I used to play it on, so I look forward to trying to complete the game. It’s a shame the game has never been updated.

For me the highlight of Adventure out of Time is being able to tour the Titanic. We still have that opportunity with newer programs, such as Virtual Sailor and Hudizzle's Titanic model made specifically for that simulator. If you have a mind to, you can even make it sink fairly accurately to history and get a better idea of the flooding within the ship. I've done this a few times just to get an idea of which public areas flooded at what times in reference to the various angles the ship was at at different times.

I've had this game for a while now but have never attempted to play it. Took me a few months to learn how to post messages on here. I am going home this weekend maybe I will give it a go. Ken.

Who else tried to take the book from the boiler room on the first try?

Me.

Should have known better since the guy was still standing right there and would undoubtably see me, but ah well.

I always thought it was funny that he supposedly had all this time to go down there and look for the Rubaiyat while you go to retrieve his luggage from Barbacon, but he only bothers to check the one boiler instead of realizing that someone may have made a mistake and checking the others as well. Oh well. For a 1995 computer game, it's still enjoyable to play.

Well, if you want to talk about unusual people in the game why couldn't that engineer get the engine running right? No one noticed it clanking and running rough?

The worst part was going to retrieve an item, like the painting and after all the work getting there to find someone else got to it first.

Part of what made the game interesting (besides having a walkable Titanic in it) was the many ways the game could be won.

Anyone got the link to this game please? My PC is quite old so it could work on it! I joke that my 1910 Piano has more life than this PC!

SeaTravel, I don't think there's a "link" to the game, per se, because it was a cd-rom based game and had to have the rom in order to run. You can check Amazon or Ebay and one of the two should have the game available for purchase (probably for 5 bucks tops). If I remember correctly, it ran on Windows pcs up until they released Windows Vista. After that, I never could get it to run again, even in compatibility mode. Thankfully I still have a laptop from the late 90's/early 2000's that will run the game, though not much else. I wish you luck in your search because it really is a great game.
