Over 2,000 Titanic books!!!

Postby Aly Jones » Wed Mar 21, 2012 3:21 pm

While searching for sally's book on Amazon I had found so many Titanic books!

For me it is so over bearing! I have no clue what to look for after when I purchase Sally's book. I do want to purchase more in the future but I am totally lost.

I'm very interested in books written by Titanic crew or written by ancestors from the deceased Titanic crew. I do however like Titanic books on Titanic herself' these two are my favorite interests.

This is what I got after I type in Titanic books-----

It would be nice to pick out the brilliant Titanic books from the dud books.

Hi Aly,

"It would be nice to pick out the brilliant Titanic books from the dud books"

I agree in terms of cost - but often many sources are needed to get a larger image. I'm sure folks here can suggest a few good titles for you :)

Hello. Over 2,000 books on Titanic and there seems to be at least one new one coming out each week. I have about 160 books so there is plenty more to search out.

Hello Aly. You mention picking out the brilliant books from the dud ones. Thats a problem I have thought about since I first started getting interested in Titanic. I started reading a book on Titanic last week but after reading four blatant mistakes I decided not to read any more as I dont know what to believe in the book anymore. I can understand an author writing some thing that maybe someone else believes another version of the same thing. But it amazes me when most books still show pictures of Olympic but call it Titanic. I must stop complaining about this sort of stuff. Ken.

Unfortunately Aly, damned near all of them do it. It's one of the most common mistakes made. Even some of the best ones do it on occasion, though you see a lot less of that sort of thing when it comes from researchers who actually know what they're talking about, some pretty embarrassing captioning errors creep in because the editors don't know any better.

Hello Aly. I wont post the name of it again. Might just end up in court. But it is in the "What are you readin" section. Ken.

Hello Michael. You say "that you see a lot less of that sort of thing when it comes from researchers who actually know what there talking about". Well this dvd and book set was put out by the Discovery Channel who I would have thought should have known better. The one on the left is one I bought in 2011 and shows (Yes, you guessed it) and the one on the right I got for Christmas in 2011. Some one must have told them about there mistake so they changed it. Ken.

My my my' why why why do they insists on doing this? the book on the left does not look realistic and I would not even bother buying it. Nothing against the Olympic but if the cover is wrong' how much information inside would be wrong!!!

Unfortunately, "Researchers who actually know what they're talking about" doesn't always go hand in hand with the Discovery Channel. (Or History Channel for that matter.)
