1990's Kids Show - Titanic And Time Travel

Postby Aaron2010 » Mon Apr 09, 2012 10:34 pm

I remember a kids show from the 1990's. I wish I knew what it was called. The show was about a time traveler who brings important people from the past into the future and they are shown how the world has changed because of their actions. In one episode he brings the captain of the Titanic into the future and he is told about the disaster. The funny thing is, when they zap the captain into the future, he is dancing and holding a cocktail drink. When they tell him the bad news he agrees to change history and the Titanic does not sink. The time traveler suddenly disappears. His friends discover his grand mother was on the Titanic and she married some one else, so the time traveler would never be born. So they bring the captain of the Titanic back and tell him he is doing a wonderful job and to keep sailing at full speed. The ship sinks and the time line is restored and the time traveler is back.

Does anyone else remember this show?

Hi there was a show called Voyagers about time travel that was on in the early 80's where a man and a boy travelled through time righting wrongs. Another show called Time Tunnel had the same premise with a group of people trapped in a time tunnel righting wrong and helping folks out. Time Tunnel is from the 1960s.

The only one I can think of that is kiddish is the 'Magic Tree House' but It is a cartoon.

I love Time-Travel Titanic. I'm going to search YouTube for 'Time Tunnel Titanic' and watch It.

Time Tunnel was woefully inaccurate in regards to the Titanic episode. The title was " Rendevous With Yesterday". I won't bore you all with the details, but this episode seemed to be such a flop with the alien/robot episodes running close behind. The series itself is entertaining and somewhat corny. I liked it for the most part. Just don't expect much of the Titanic episode.

Even though I never saw this episode, I know what you are talking about Aaron. It was Aj's Time Travelers.

Thanks. It was A.J's Time Travelers. The show was American, but I live in the UK and I think it was shown on Channel 4 or possibly Fox Kids or Nickelodeon.

The Titanic episode is also mentioned on IMDB.

Hello,

There was a UK film called Time Bandits I saw on "Home Box Office" (cable) in the early 80's. It was a rather wonderful film about a little boy and some small guys who have stolen a map from a supreme being. With the map, they travel to all sorts of places throughout history, real and imagined, and at one point they wind up on...Titanic. Not terribly accurate at all - but a fun film! There is no long clip on YouTube, but it is, or was, on Netflixx.

Time Bandits was one of my favourite films when I was a kid, and I reckon it's from that that I first discovered the Titanic.

It is funny how the actor David Warner ended up in 3 Titanic movies. He played the lead character in SOS Titanic (1979) and again in Time Bandits, and then he played Lovejoy in James Cameron's Titanic. I think David Warner and Bernard Fox are the only actors who have appeared in more than one Titanic movie. Bernard Fox played Colonel Gracie in James Cameron's Titanic and he also played Lookout Frederick Fleet in 'A Night To Remember' (1958).

Don't know who David Warner is, but I was aware of Fox's two different roles.

David Warner is a popular British actor on film, TV and radio. I think he is best known in the 1980's film TRON. I met him last year. We chatted about the Titanic for several minutes. He was very polite and he really enjoyed his role in SOS Titanic. I also got his autograph. :D

That's neat, Aaron! Thanks for the info. I don't watch much beyond the 1960s so not up to date with the names and roles of actors/actresses. Fox, on the other hand, is a familiar face from TV shows such as F-Troop, Hogan's Heroes, Andy Griffith Show and McHale's Navy.
