Are there any good books that cover the period from the 1920's to the merger and early days of Cunard-White Star?

If the question is whether there are any "good books" about the end of White Star, the answer is "No."

The only book that comes to mind off-hand is Roy Anderson's White Star, published in 1964. Written a mere thirty years after the merger, Anderson takes a very complex subject and condenses it into a few pages of excellent reading at the end of his book.

Problem is, you are dealing with the Enron-type scandal that was the Kylsant/Royal Mail scheme and the merger itself, either of which is subject matter for a book (and the Kylsant affair has indeed been written about at length). But as for one book that comprehensively examines the entire time span, I agree with Mark in saying that there is no one good book dealing with the end of the line, save for those pages in White Star.

Thanks for the link Cameron.

Mark, I thought that might be the case.

Tim, Thanks for the book suggestion.
