Carrie Tarwater’s eighth-grade enrichment group read the book “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio. “Wonder” tells the story of 10-year-old August Pullman and his struggle of attending a public school with a facial disfigurement. This award-winning book was made into a movie, which the eighth- grade students will be seeing on Dec. 15. What a wonderful way to close the first semester of the school year.

The winter band concert will be at 7 p.m. on Dec. 11 at the Clayton Center for the Arts.

The seventh grade, eighth grade and high school will be performing pieces that they have worked on throughout the school year. The middle school band will be directed by Christine Traigis and the high school band will be directed by Anthony Terry.

The holiday choral concert will be at 6 p.m. on Dec. 12, also at the Clayton Center for the Arts. It will include performances from the sixth-, seventh- and eighth- grade choirs. The soloists for sixth grade are Tessa Overton and Phillip Tucker; the seventh-grade soloist is Grayson Wells and the eighth-grade soloists are Chantelly Garcia, Hadley Davis, Asha Cole and Matilda Bleakmore.

Sixth-graders are learning about circuits in their science class. Students learn the difference between a closed circuit and an open circuit, and other information about electrical currents.
