Brewery Titanic ditches Congleton pub

Popular Potteries brewery Titanic has ditched its only Cheshire pub - with the venue's landlord claiming local drinkers did not want to buy Staffordshire beer.

Publican Paul Bona says customers at Congleton's The Olde King's Arms wanted national brands rather than Titanic's array of award-winning ales.

Now national chain Marston's has taken back control of the High Street venue which had been operated by the Burslem-based brewer for three years.

Paul, aged 58, said: “I came to the pub a few months ago to hold the fort until it reverted back to a Marston's pub and I'm now in talks to try to purchase it.
