Las Positas College (LPC) will present a summer theater production of "Titanic: The Musical" for one weekend only, Thursday, July 13 through Sunday, July 16, 2017 at 8 p.m. "Titanic" will be performed in the outdoor amphitheater next to the Barbara F. Mertes Center for the Arts on the LPC campus at 3000 Campus Hill Drive in Livermore.

The audience is encouraged to bring picnic items or purchase from food truck vendors that will be parked nearby. Alcohol is prohibited in accordance with state law. Patrons are also welcome to bring lawn or camping chairs for comfort, or picnic blankets to use in the first few rows of seating. Some seating will be available on a first come-first served basis. Families are welcome. The performance venue opens to the public at 7:15.

"This is one of the few outdoor theater productions held in the Tri-Valley and it makes for a perfect summer night out," said LPC President Barry Russell. "There are just four performances, so get your tickets early," he added.

"Titanic: The Musical" opened on Broadway in 1997, and won five Tony Awards, including the award for Best Musical. The music and lyrics are by Maury Yeston and the play is based upon the book by Peter Stone. The play examines the causes, conditions, and characters involved on the fatal night of April 15, 1912, and provides insight into the officers, crew and passengers.
