Titanic memorial cruise passengers claim GBP246,000 refund

Postby Andrew Clarkson » Thu Jun 21, 2012 6:58 am

Up to 200 passengers on a Titanic Memorial Cruise are threatening legal action to recover more than £246,000 they paid in fuel surcharges, which they claim is the largest demanded in the history of travel.

Passengers were charged up to £15.50 per person per night just four weeks before they departed on the 21-night cruise in April organised by Miles Morgan Travel of Bristol on a ship chartered from Fred Olsen Cruiselines.

It is understood that those who were first to book the cruise were not asked to pay the surcharge, but 950 of the 1,250 passengers did pay extra for fuel.

A protest group has since formed to recover all the surcharge, which they claim was excessive and illegal.

Hello. I was talking to someone who was going on the main cetenary cruise and he told me that a number of people had cancelled there booking because of the extra money required. It worked out at £28.50p per day. Probably doesn't sound a lot but remember the cruise lasted about 20 days. Ken.

Hi Ken,

All together, Fred Olsen Miles Morgan as organizers of Titanic memorial cruise are
responsible for many serious mistakes. As you know I still in fight with them about stolen poster. In fact they accepted responsibility but with out compensation.

Hi Ken,
Glad to hear you again. I'm here all the time, I follow events but did not answer. This issue, related to the memorial cruise was again stirred my passions.
What to say. They are strong and powerful they can do whatever they want. I'm afraid they have come to a climax of power and glory, and like any powerful empire, will end its existence destruction. Golden era of travel is long gone. Today everything is different the way Fred Olsen is trying to attract passengers is not good.
Poster from Balmoral, (well known to you) every day will be more valuable, while the reputation of the said company certainly be weaker. This is my gift to the company and now they can without my permission to use it however they want.
Sincerely

I wonder If Titanic passengers paid extra for coal!

All this modern extra taxes GST etc... Is ridiculous. And why not just include the fuel tax in the package from the very start? Did they just wake up suddenly and said 'lets make more money' Crooks! Those passengers should get a refund from the extra money they paid out.

They subscribe to collect the ticket money, but the calculation seems to be bad. As far as I know all the circumstances of the pre-planned there is no additional cost.

Bummer Marko. How did they manage to get your painting, Marko? Trying to get free advertising as such, nothing for free, everyone has to make a living including painters like you, Marko. Are you going to take legal action against them?

Marko,

You don't answer my PM's. I am not trying to upset you - I am saying your angle of attack might be flawed? Is anything actually happening with Clive Palmer? That's where we left off - I thought you gave up on Olsen?

Best wishes,
Eric

Hi Eric,

You, and I have exchanged a lot of things but some things just should not speak publicly. The problem is not photobucket, when smart people use pictures from that site made background checks.
Many things I have discovered, the key to the problem is something else entirely.
Several posters have been sold and I am sure that one used to create one at Balmoral. quality achieved in this poster can not be achieved by taking a picture from the site sized 80 x 80 pic. The problem is much more complex than is presented.
Still not finished, we'll be in touch.
Regards,
