Here is a new quiz question for everyone:

What does the Titanic have ion common with the 16th President of the United States?

This may be an easy one but i like it because it brings together 2 of my favorite subjects.

Mab was right about President Taft and the change to the US constitution, as I'd expect from him.

Here's a new one. Of whom was the following written?

xxxxxx passed all his Board of Trade examinations most brilliantly before me, his testimonials for good conduct and ability at sea being invariably of the highest order. Since then I have ever heard him spoken of as a humane and clever officer and commander as well as a kind husband, a loving father, and a high-principled gentleman.

Ah, the answer is perfectly obvious now. I misunderstood Dave's clue to mean it was found that a relation between them had been found.

Come on, folks! The one about the 16th president is rather neat and maybe a bit spooky.

Hello. The 16th president was Abraham Lincoln and I noticed that his Vice Presidents first name was Andrew and it was an Andrew that helped design Titanic but then BAM it hit me Abraham Lincoln left office on April 15th the same day that Titanic foundered. Ken.

Pretty good, but there's a bit more to it.

OK. What I was thinking of is that Lincoln was wounded on the night of 14 April and died on the morning of the 15th. Very like Titanic.

What about the man above, who passed his examinations so well?

The President Lincoln was a Harland and Wolff ship! :D

And, a prominent Titanic researcher and nice guy is, or was, IN Lincoln! ;)

Hi again Dave :)

BTW, I did not Google that or anything - the President Lincoln carried my Great Grandmother here in 1912. Great Grandfather came on the Vaterland in the same year.

Best wishes,
Eric

Hi,

I just realized Vaterland was not launched until 1913. Someone best tell the folks at Ellis Island - although in saw the manifest myself. Hmmm. But I will bet I surprised you with the President Lincoln/ Harland and Wolff connection! ...right? ;)

Best,
Eric

Hi,

I thought those were pretty darn cool answers! Anyone with a new quiz question?
