Dona Fermina Oliva y Ocana was traveling with Victor Penasco Y Castellana and his wife, Maria Josefa Penasco Y Castellana as maid to Maria Josefa Penasco Y Castellana.

Victor Penasco Y Castellana was lost in the sinking of the Titanic, and his body was not recovered or identified, however, Maria Josefa Penasco Y Castellana and Dona Fermina Oliva y Ocana both managed to board lifeboat No. 8, and survived.
