Mini Biography

Clara Jennings Hays was traveling with her husband, Charles Melville Hays, and they boarded the Titanic at Southampton, England, on Wednesday, 10th April, 1912, bound for Montreal, Quebec.

Also traveling with the Hays family was Vivian Ponsonby Payne, secretary to Charles Melville Hays, and Mary Anne Perreault, maid to Clara Jennings Hays.

Clara Jennings Hays and Mary Anne Perreault both managed to board lifeboat No. 3, but Charles Melville Hays and Vivian Ponsonby Payne were both lost in the sinking of Titanic, but the body of Charles Melville Hays was recovered and identified.

Clara Jennings Hays died on 1st February, 1955, and was buried in Mount Royal Cemetery Montreal Quebec, Canada.
