Mini Biography

Augusta Goodwin

Augusta Goodwin was traveling with her husband, Frederick Joseph Goodwin, and the couple's six children, Lillian Amy Goodwin, Charles Edward Goodwin, William Frederick Goodwin, Jessie Allis Goodwin, Harold Victor Goodwin, and Sidney Leslie Goodwin, and the Goodwin family all boarded the Titanic at Southampton, England, on Wednesday, 10th April, 1912, and were bound for Niagra Falls, New York.

Frederick Joseph Goodwin, Augusta Goodwin, Lillian Amy Goodwin, Charles Edward Goodwin, William Frederick Goodwin, Jessie Allis Goodwin, Harold Victor Goodwin, and Sidney Leslie Goodwin were all lost in the sinking, and none of the Goodwin family's bodies were recovered and identified.

In 2002, a T.V. program called Secrets Of The Dead, wanted to prove through D.N.A. testing, who the child in the grave of the unknown child really was, and announced that the body was that of Eino Viljam Panula, using a descendant of his mother, Maija Emelia Abraham Panula, to prove the match.

However, in 2007, a team from Lakehead University, Ontario, Canada managed to prove, again using D.N.A., that Sidney Leslie Goodwin was actually the body in the grave of the unknown child. A mistake had been made in 2002.
